Antique Foster Brothers Gold Star 15 Butcher Knife
This Foster Brothers Butcher knife I believe to be over a 100 years old. The knife is overall 15 inches long. The blade itself is 10 inches and the handle is 5 inches. As you can see from the pictures the wood is not in the best condition but still intact. The words on the blade itself are very faint but still legible. This beautiful antique knife would make a great addition to any collection. Dating back to the late 1800s-early 1900s, this old Foster Bros knife comes from their Gold Star line, which was their top of the line product. They are some of the most distinctive, highest quality knives ever made. The Gold Star line incorporated top quality in every detail, and are instantly recognizable because of the inlaid brass star rivets flush mounted on ebony or rosewood handles. Knives from the gold star line are often referred to as the General. Foster Bros blades of this era were hand-forged from incredibly fine carbon steel that can hold an edge like no other, and this one is no exception. That being said, this one is very special in that it was forged from the RAREST carbon steel the company ever produced, with a much higher-than-average nickel content for hardness.
