Please read our Terms below for details. Henckels of Solingen, Germany, this is a very special vintage piece, found here in excellent condition in a highly-desirable medium size. In one key way, too, it is in better than new condition, having received for the purpose of this sale a WICKEDLY sharp, razor keen edge by the good folks at Ross Cutlery in downtown Los Angeles, the best in the business.

As such, it is guaranteed to thrill even the most jaded user. This beautiful chef's knife comes hand-forged with integral carbon steel blade/bolster/tapered tang construction, real ebony handles triple-riveted onto its full tang. It's blade is made of beautiful carbon steel and will hold its razor's edge with relatively easy honing. What really makes it special, though, is the fineness of its forging, tapering to a whisper near the point and near the pommel. It comes from an old special edition of knives Henckels produced to commemorate their many awards received during the 1900 World's Fair in Paris and the 1904 World's Fair in St.

The knife's blade markings are stamped accordingly, J. Henckels Twinworks, Solingen, Germany, 102-8, " with an additional stamp reading "Grand Prize, St. It's razor sharp and ready to serve a useful lifetime of dicing, chopping, slicing and generally making fast work of whatever you put in its way. Handles have no cracks at all. Like most top-quality German knives, this Henckels beauty has a gently curved blade to allow a rocking motion in use, preferred by many chefs.

It also has a MUCH more finely tapered blade than most and is a speed demon in capable hands. You might not be aware that Henckels knives began to use recycled steel stock in 1987, but this knife was made from virgin steel. In fact, it was hand-forged, as evidenced by its tang, which tapered more thin toward the bottom, for greater balance in the hand. The difference in quality may surprise you. It's what you should expect from one of Germany's finest cutlery makers and it really is much more beautiful than today's composite-handled equivalent. Whether you are a professional or amateur chef, you'll instantly come to love this magnificent vintage knife as one of your very favorites. Also will make an exceptionally surprising gift for the discriminating chef on your list. If you've never used a carbon steel knife before, you're in for a treat. Experienced chefs know that only a true carbon steel blade can consistently attain the razor-sharp edge that makes cooking a true pleasure you must wipe the knife after every use to avoid stains and rusting, but will be richly rewarded with superior performance!

This knife is perfectly balanced and will make you wonder why you suffered for all these years without one. When you hold a knife like this it feels like an extension of your hand, not like something you're simply holding.

Measures 13-3/8" with 8-3/8" blade--but it's razor edge and balance make it excellent for any job in your kitchen, large or small.
