Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades. In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. This is a GREAT knife in fantastic condition, made a VERY long time ago in Sheffield, England (late 1800's) at the height of Sheffield's pre-eminence in the cutlery trade. It's also a super-fine piece that is as useful today as the day it was made.
It was made by George Wostenholm & Son, one of Sheffield's largest and most legendary makers who produced bladed weapons and tools of many kinds. It comes from one of their finest and best-known brands, EBRO, remaining these many, many years later, a beautiful, heirloom-quality piece for daily use as for display. Its stiff, curving blade was fully hand-forged from the finest English carbon shear steel (a kind of early folded steel, somewhat like damascus) with an integral bolster and full, hidden tang inside one of the most beautiful stag handles you'll ever see--all in beautiful condition with no problems of any kind.
As you'd expect, it is capable of taking one of the finest possible edges, thanks to the quality of its steel, so we've had it professionally edged for this sale and it's now RAZOR sharp in a way that too few knives ever can be. It's a medium-weight blade, but very strong with modest flex and if the lucky winner chose to use it in the kitchen, he would be very pleasantly surprised by how well it will function, waferizing into paper-thin slices anything from turkey breast to tomato. Its stag handle is also exceptional; not just for beauty, but for the near-perfect contour it possesses, to match the natural grip of the hand. Its 9.5" blade (14.25" overall length) is still capable of several lifetimes of outstanding service, but if you choose to display it only, we won't tell a soul. If you plan on using this knife, you'll find none finer.
