Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades. In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise.Made in USA by The Clyde Cutlery Co of Clyde, Ohio, this HUGE, beautifully preserved butcher knife was made for sale under contract for the U. Military in 1968 and a finer example of such a knife you will not find. As you can see it was made with a fine high-carbon stainless steel blade and beechwood handle scales of the finest quality. I don't think it has ever been used and conditioin is excellent, as you can see. It was made for the U. Military for use during the Viet Nam War. Its beechwood handles are naturally slip-resistant and are as warm in the hand as they are easy on the eyes, brass riveted over a full tang. Measures 20" long with a VERY SHARP 14.25" blade and known in this size as a breaking knife, the first knives of attack when butchers and meat-cutters reduce a carcass or side of meat into more manageable quarters, roasts, steaks, etc.
With trim and further reductions being achieved with smaller knives. Of course, knowing chefs and butchers have always used such knives for a wide variety of tasks, from slicing roast beast or turkey breast to serving birthday cake. If you prefer to use it as a machete, we won't mind one bit, so long as you understand that you won't be the first to do so!
