Please read our Terms below for details. As you can see in the photos, you're looking at an absolutely stunning F. Dick knife sharpening steel with german silver inlays set into its decahedral (ten sides), solid African ebony handle, found here in nicely preserved condtiion, despite being well over 65 years old. In terms of size, construction and performance, it has everything any user or collector could want and then some. The honing steel is very gently ridged, making it ideal for frequent use since it removes a minimum of steel from your knife's edge every time you use it.
It was made in the largest size the company produced, with a 14.25" carbide steel rod (it's 21.75" long overall, counting the ring) and it's more than capable of sharpening the largest knives in your kitchen or butchery. It's beautifully capped at bolster and pommel with fully forged mounts and a forged ring used to hang the piece from a nail on a butcher's block, or more commonly, at a butcher's side, where it could be quickly accessed to rehone his best knives during the busy day. This is a great opportunity for the serious collector of F.
Dick, knife steels or butchernalia, and you can bet you won't be seeing another one like it any time soon in this condition. A fantastic piece for use or display among any collector's finest and a piece that user and collector alike will soon come to regard as an heirloom.
