Please read our Terms below for details. It just doesn't get any better than this knife, folks. Bar none, this is probably the single finest knife of its kind ever made--period.
Better than anything from Germany, England or France, in my humble opinion, an opinion honed over nearly 60 years of active collecting. The best part of it is the condition it's in, which is as minty fresh and unused as the day it first left the factory. For a piece of this age, well over 100 years old, it's nothing short of remarkable. This wonderful vintage knife is even more beautiful than the digital photos make it look, even though it looks pretty good already. Its wide and very stiff carbon steel blade is triple-riveted over solid rosewood handle scales with large brass rivets shaped like stars. Handles are stamped with the maker's name and arrow logo, reading, FOSTER BROS. Along with a human hand pointing at a star. Even if the knife wasn't marked, however, its identity would be unmistakable as a Foster Brothers knife. It was made in upstate New York LONG ago, probably turn of the last century, as evidenced by the hand-hatched work on every edge of the handle--one of their trademarks--as well as by its unique rivet construction. The entire piece is in simply beautiful condition and it just begs to be held. Though it obviously has some collector value, it would be a shame not to use it.
Carbon steel blades of this vintage can hold a razor's edge like no other and it could still do more than its share of butchering of game or livestock, if you're someone who dresses their own. Its rosewood handles are as useful and comfortable as they are beautiful to look at--warm to the touch with a frightfully firm grip that tempts one to find things that need cutting or slicing.
Comes with hand-forged carbon steel blade that's 5-1/8 long and thick and sturdy enough to be carried into the field for use as a hunting knife. It's 9.5 long overall with a full and tapered tang but the true measure of such a knife is in the holding and using, and in those respects well off the charts. We're asking a premium price for this premium knife but remember, it's the bargains in life that we come to regret, never our extravagances, and if ever there was a time to indulge in an extravagance, folks, THIS is that time, either for your self or for that VERY lucky chef, butcher or collector on your gift list for a knife that user and collector alike will rightly come to treasure as an heirloom.
