Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades. In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise.Richtig of Clarkson, Nebraska is a legend in the world of knife-making, most famous for having appeared in Ripley's Believe it or Not in 1936 for producing blades of unimaginable performance. Frank traveled the mid-west during the years of the Depression, exhibiting his knives in action, having them perform things like cut horse shoes into small pieces, as well as three-fourths inch crowbars, automobile axles, and even industrial steel locks, and yet undulled and without sharpening, still have blade enough left to cut paper into bits. Unfortunately, Frank took his secrets for forging, heat-treating and tempering blades to his grave in 1977 and to this day no one is really quite certain exactly how he did it. As a Richtig knife, of course, its blade can and will perform astonishing feats if you should so choose to use it for them but if you're more interested in owning one of the most amazing paring and peeling knives ever made, you've just hit paydirt. Like all Richtig knives it has a poured aluminum handle and a carbon steel blade that WILL rust if you don't keep it dry, though this minor inconvenience is more than offset by the kind of performance you'd rightly expect. It measures 7.25" long with a 3.5" blade but by any reasonable measure this is one of the hugest finds you'll ever make. Frank didn't make nearly enough knives to go around, prefering to keep his shop a one-man operation but your opportunity to get this knfie is knocking on the door. Answer the call and take home something you'll rightly come to think of as an heirloom worthy of passing down to your progeny.
