Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades.

In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. This is just a superb find, dating to the 1950's yet found here in pristine and unused condition. This outstanding Bowie-style or Buck-style carving knife/fork/sharpening steel set was made in the USA by Wear-Ever.

Wear-Ever was the parent company of Cutco at one time, but no longer--I've included pix from an old cookbook to show you the connection. Most consumers don't know these knives and are prone to confusing the Wear-Ever name with those cheapies they THINK they recognize from the supermarket aisle. YOU COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG! This set, one of the rarest ever produced by the company, was made to emulate the bowie-knife style cutlery being marketed by Buck, in that company's first foray into the kitchen knife market. These knives were made with the same steel and many of the same features as Cutco knives, like superbly forged stainless steel blades, indestructible composite handles, ergonomically correct grips, etc. But they have greater durability than regular Cutco knives, to survive the punishing environment of a busy restaurant kitchen Grips on Wear-Ever knives also have slightly deeper finger grooves for a more non-slip hold. The two brands even share the same patent, Pat. 2,390,544, which is often found on the handles of Cutco knives and which is on the handles of all three pieces Best of all by far about the knife, though, is its edge.

Ground double-concave--like a barber's straight razor--it is capable of a level of sharpness and cutting precision unknown to German knives and the like. As such, you probably are unaware of their existence, unless you worked in a restaurant kitchen. If you were fortunate enough to do so, you are probably well-acquainted with the high regard and respect afforded them by the chefs who depended upon them day after day.

This set was probably intended for sale to restaurants that carved at the table. The degree of polish on them is simply above and beyond what a kitchen would require.

You will not find better ANYWHERE, and your satisfaction is guaranteed here. These pieces constitute a RARE find in the truest sense of the word, and will outlive both you and me by many years, probably EVEN if abused. Knife comes with 8-7/8" blade (knife is 13-7/8" overall) is sturdy and substantial, yet not overly thick--just right--the ideal carver/slicer. It's somewhat unusual in that it bears a clipped point, but the resulting sharper tip is VERY nice for a number of jobs in the kitchen when pinpoint accuracy is required (it's the ULTIMATE for turkey breast). All pieces have the same black handle with full tangs and highly polished solid metal pommel and top plate where handle meets blade.

Fork is bayonet style and very sturdy, too. Sharpening steel is ridged, not smooth. Perfectly suited for virtually any chef, amateur or professional, if only the finest quality knives are what is required.

You could pay more for a new, uninteresting carving set from Germany, but you wouldn't get the same beauty, performance or quality. An excellent value on an heirloom-quality set that is as much a conversation piece as it is beautiful and efficient.
