An elk on a mountain with scrolles. 1 Carving holding fork with engraved handle 11 inch. 1 Knife Sharpener with engraved handle 13 inch. Condition: Knife and fork were used one Christmas, sharpener never used. All of the handles are made from real CROWN STAG, which is by far the most expensive cut of antler. Only two of these crown stag sections are shed from the stag once a year, making them the most desired and sought after pieces of antler.
They really have a rustic look to them. They feature a beautiful etching of a wildlife scene on each blade as well. The blades on these knives are actually pretty unique. The blades have an edge, so you can use them for cutting, and they are also rounded at the tip so you can use them like a butter knife to spread stuff also. I think this was a very innovative design for the time period. I believe the maker of these is Anton Wingen Jr. But probably an earlier design before they started using the gaudier colored etching. Sets like these made with REAL CROWN STAG HANDLES are super rare. Overall, a fine example of Vintage Cutlery that hasn't been made in well over a half a century, and that will never be made again.
