In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. This SUPERB vintage chef knie is among the very finest chef knives ever produced by Jos. Rodgers, Sheffield, England's most stories of makers. Made sometime in the 1950's or 60's, and found here used but still in excellent condition, in one key way it's even better than when it was new, having been given for the purpose of this sale a WICKEDLY sharp edge that is far sharper than when this knife was new--guaranteed to put a smile on even the most jaded user. It was produced in a line of VERY high-end cutlery that was made in very limited numbers during that period due to their high cost.
As such, it's fully on-par with the finest quality knives one associates with the term "Sheffield Steel" and in terms of quality materials, craftsmanship and sheer beauty, you will find none finer. Made with a hand-forged, hand-finished stainless steel blade bolstered LONG in solid brass over a deeply, beautifully lustrous waxed rosewood handle that's warm to the touch and offers a bit of joy to the eyes, it is nothing short of a work of the cutler's art.To be sure, it performs as beautifully as it looks and is fully worthy of the Rodgers name. With a very comfortable birdshead grip, very much like a French-made knife, it's an ideal knife for chopping, dicing and mincing, slicing--you name it--every chef's most important tool in any kitchen. If you have any interest at all in finer vintage cutlery, you're already aware of how difficult it can be to find the best quality English knives in any condition, but to find one in this condition is truly surprising. Those who own them don't part with them until death and even then--grudgingly!
It's every chef's most trusted friend and most heavily relied-upon tool, and if you're someone who spends a lot of time in the kitchen, professionally or as an amateur, you know how important your tools are. Don't your hands deserve the finest? If you've got someone on your gift-list who THINKS they have everything, this would make a VERY welcome surprise.
Measures 14.75" long with a 10-1/8" blade--the quintessential chef knife size--but this is a HUGE find by any measure and the kind of knife that user and collector alike will come to treasure as an heirloom.
